Rung 1
Understand the job
Every trade has a real job under the title. Before we publish a page we map the work. What gets decided. What gets produced. What gets measured. A property starts as a field study, not a landing page.
Method
Shifu Labs builds one property per trade. Each property exists to answer a working question, not to catalog an industry.
Generic directories optimize for coverage. Coverage doesn't run a firm. The operator with a decision to make doesn't need 400 listings. They need the shortlist, the default and the reason.
So we go vertical. One trade at a time. We learn the job well enough to have a position on it. Then we publish the position.
Four filters. A real trade with real budgets. Fragmented tooling with no obvious default. A job we can learn end to end. Search demand that compounds instead of spiking.
If a vertical passes all four it gets a domain and a deadline. If it passes three it goes on the watchlist.
An encyclopedia gives you everything and decides nothing. We would rather be wrong in public than neutral in private. Every list ranks. Every page commits to a recommendation someone can act on the same day.
The ladder keeps us honest. Rung one maps the job. Rung two makes the call. Rung three does the work. A property that stalls on rung one is a brochure. Ours climb.
The method
Rung 1
Every trade has a real job under the title. Before we publish a page we map the work. What gets decided. What gets produced. What gets measured. A property starts as a field study, not a landing page.
Rung 2
Directories list 400 options. Operators need one. So we rank. We cut. We name a default and defend it. A page that refuses to decide is a page that wastes the reader's afternoon.
Rung 3
The last rung is output. Tools that produce the artifact itself. The model. The memo. The resume. When a property matures it stops describing the work and starts doing it.
